More of Who’s Showcasing at FARM

The Wilhelms copyFriday @ 9:30 – The Wilhelms

The Wilhelms (Andy Ploof and John Wendland) are two notable singer/songwriters and multi-instrumentalists from St. Louis.  Their songwriting is rooted in a musical honesty that takes human imperfection as a working definition for music with soul. Their debut acoustic release Film at 11 was made for two voices and two guitars and recorded by Gary Gordon of The Gordons.

Friday 9:50 – Josh HartyJosh Harty copy-1

Touring continuously across North America & Europe, Josh Harty’s unique blend of American music has become a must-hear for those who keep the tradition of country, blues and folk close to their hearts. Born and raised on the plains of North Dakota, his father, both a preacher, and the Police Chief of their small town, was also Harty’s music mentor. Nowadays, Josh is always looking for that balance between the rolling road and the people who inspire him, trading stories around kitchen tables and on theatre stages. His live shows combine good story telling with journeyman musicianship.

Dennis Stroughmatt copyFriday @ 10:10 – Dennis Stroughmatt

Fingers and bow flying, Dennis Stroughmatt takes listeners on a musical odyssey not so different from his own musical journeys into Upper Louisiana Creole culture. Taught to play fiddle by local Creole fiddlers living along the Mississippi River near St. Louis, Dennis is now the authority on this regional pocket of American antiquity. A vibrant blend of Celtic, Canadian and Old Time sounds, this unique music bridges gaps between contemporary Canadian and Louisiana Cajun styles. Preserved by families in the Ozark foothills, the music remains largely intact and true to the traditions that have been passed down over three centuries.

More Official Showcase Performers

NO FUSS AND FEATHERS copyFriday @ 8:30 – No Fuss and Feathers Roadshow

“No Fuss and Feathers Roadshow is the “heck-of-a-good-time” collaboration hatched by award winning songwriters Carolann Solebello,Karyn Oliver, and The YaYas (Catherine Miles and Jay Mafale). It’s like getting three bands for the price of one when these friends share the stage: a dynamic, cohesive cocktail of delicious harmonies, infectious rhythm, and spontaneous hilarity. Individually, the four are nationally touring performers that have charted at the top of Folk and Americana radio and appeared on stage at some of the most respected festivals. Collectively, they are an incorrigible bunch of musical co-conspirators bent on giving their audience an unforgettable show.”

Scott Cook copyFriday @ 8:50 – Scott Cook

Alberta, Canada’s prairie balladeer Scott Cook is a tirelessly traveling DIY songwriter with heart forever on sleeve.  Road-worn, painfully honest, and deeply human, his straight-talking tunes weave together folk, roots, blues, soul and country with spacious fingerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo arrangements.  Cook has been making a full-time living at music since 2007, touring extensively across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, and is currently on tour in support of his fourth release, One More Time Around.  Notwithstanding all the weary miles, he still believes that music can change your life, and your life can change the world.

BERNADETTE MORRIS copyFriday @ 9:10 – Bernadette Morris

Building on the success of her debut album Co. Tyrone born, Irish singer, Bernadette Morris continues to wow audiences throughout Ireland and beyond with her fresh take on traditional Irish folk songs and enthrals audiences with her modern versions of lilting Gaelic laments.

All the Ways you Wander, produced by Sean Óg Graham of Beoga fame, is a varied and unique album with a rich mix of old traditional songs and contemporary songs from the writing of Barry Kerr and John Spillane.  From a musical family, her talent is the type that can’t be taught, her onstage presence is electric and her charm undeniable.
