FARM folks,

volunteer as mc’s/time keepers for Performance Lane. If you would like to

Dana Cooper grew up in Harry Truman’s hometown of Independence, MO. At 16 he began writing and performing his songs in Kansas City coffeehouses. In 1971 he moved to Los Angeles and released his first album on Elektra Records in 1973. Dana has performed on Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage and the Kerrville Folk Festival. Cooper’s songs have been recorded by artists such as Claire Lynch, Maura O’Connell, Pierce Pettis and Susan Werner. He has worked as a taxi driver, warehouseman, nurse’s aid, gardener, waiter and touring musician of 40 years. Dana will soon release his 25th album.

Mark Dvorak has given concerts in almost all of the United States, and visited Finland, Canada and Ireland. He has released 16 albums and when not on the road, teaches at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. He has won awards for children’s music, journalism and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Woodstock Folk Festival. In 2013 Dvorak received the FARM Lantern Bearer Award. The Chicago Tribune has called him, “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” In 2012, WFMT 98.7 fm named him “Chicago’s official troubadour.”

Event Activities

On Thursday Afternoon our keynote speaker, Tim Grimm, will be conducting a master class workshop.  Directly following Jim Hall & Cindy Morgan will present a workshop on The Legacy of the Carter Family.

On Friday morning our Folk Tradition in the Midwest Lifetime award winner, Eric Peltoniemi, will lead a discussion on the history of Red House Records, it’s place in the continuing legacy of American folk music, how it is evolving with the ongoing changes in the music industry today and into the future.

Be prepared to dance on Saturday Morning with Becca & Red Chrosniak of Red Brick Rhodes as they present a workshop on Eurythmics, looking at the connection between music and dance.
