The deadline for FARM 2017 Official Showcase submissions has been EXTENDED to end of day, Sunday, June 11th.

The submission process for 2017 FARM Official Showcases IS STILL OPEN!  Click HERE.  Details and instructions are at that page, but there are also some details you can read below in this post.

Here are some details on the process (official details are on the submission page HERE):
 
Submissions will be accepted until June 11th
Official Showcase Artists will be privately notified July 1st, and the public announcement will be July 15th.
 
Split between Friday and Saturday evenings, FARM 2017 features 14 Official Showcase Artists.  There is only one Official Showcase happening at a time, and there are no other conference events during the Official Showcase time.  In other words, all eyes will be on YOU when you perform!

Submission fee is $15.  We ask artists to submit two (2) song submission videos.

Please note that if you performed an Official Showcase at the 2015 or 2016 FARM Conferences, OR you performed in a DJ or Venue showcase at the 2016 conference, you are not eligible for an Official Showcase in 2017.

Seeking nominations for FARM Award

Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) is seeking nominations for its 2017 Folk Tradition in the Midwest Lifetime Award to be presented at our annual conference in Iowa City, IA on October 19, 2017.

The Annual Folk Tradition in the Midwest Lifetime Award is awarded at the annual FARM Gathering to a living individual who resides in the Midwest and whose involvement in the Midwest folk music and dance community: 1) has been of significant duration, 25 years or more; 2) has been of significant intensity; 3) has involved significant service to the Midwest folk community; 4) has reached, and reaches, beyond a single sector, such as concert performance, into the wider community; and 5) has extended folk music and/or dance outward, into the wider community. The FARM Board has standardized nomination and selection procedures for this award, which is growing in meaning and prestige and which serves not only to honor one person, but to increase awareness of and strengthen ties within and beyond the Midwest folk music and dance community.

Past recipients of the Folk Tradition in the Midwest Lifetime Award include:  Sally Potter (2016), Ann & Will Schmid (2015), Eric Peltoniemi (2014), Jim Blum (2013), Cathy Barton and Dave Para (2012), Bob Blackman (2011), Maggie Ferguson (2009), David Tamulevich (2008), Juel Ulven (2007), Margaret Nelson (2006), Dave Humphreys (2005), Glen & Judi Morningstar (2004), Stan Werbin (2003), Rich Warren (2002), Larry Bruner (2001), Art Thieme (2000).
